Stay at Hotel Schweizerhof Lucerne - the oldest and most traditional hotel in Lucerne (since 1845) and owned by the Lucerne Hauser family since 1861. More Lucerne history in a prime location near the old town, Kappellbrücke bridge and lake is not possible!

Enjoy Lucerne on foot (everything is just a stone's throw away as the Hotel Schweizerhof is so centrally located) or let the "City Train" show you the whole city in 45 minutes.

For your evening meal, we have reserved a beautiful table for you on the lakeside terrace of the Schweizerhof or in the hotel's elegant gourmet restaurant "Galerie". Dinner is included in the package and will be the first culinary highlight of your gourmet trip!

In the morning, you will be treated to a sumptuous buffet breakfast (with champagne) at the Hotel Schweizerhof before setting off for the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland - the "Sonnenstube": At 11.12 a.m. you take the steamboat from Lucerne to Flüelen. On the way you will see the monumental central Swiss mountains Pilatus and Rigi, the Rütli (the "birthplace" of Switzerland, where the Swiss Confederation was sealed in 1291 with the Rütli Oath), the Tells Platte, where, according to legend and the story by Friedrich Schiller, the Swiss national hero jumped to freedom from the ship of the tyrant, the Habsburg bailiff Gessler. 

You arrive in Flüelen at 13.55 (there is of course a restaurant on board) - and change to the 14.09 train from Flüelen. The train continues along the world-famous and historic Gotthard route towards Ticino. You will see the church at Wassen three times, which has achieved world fame thanks to the bold railroad layout with its many helical tunnels. On the journey through the mighty Reuss Valley in Uri and the Gotthard Tunnel, which opened in 1882, you will hear exciting stories about the unique Gotthard region. Finally, the varied Mediterranean landscape of Ticino awaits you - welcome under the palm trees.

On the panoramic train, you will be accompanied by a multilingual tour guide. The guide will point out the most important sights along the route and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

In Bellinzona (arrival 16.07), change to the train to Locarno Minusio (departure 16:19 - arrival 16.41). Your host will be waiting for you at the station to walk you over to the hotel.

Check-in at the Boutique-Hotel Remorino in Minusio, a wonderful Garden-Retreat just 5 minutes from the Locarno-Minusio Riviera away. You will be welcomed with a drink at the pool or at the Bar.

In the evening, you will enjoy a dinner at the Restaurant Giardino Lago directly on the lake just a few steps from your Hotel.

Breakfast at the Remorino Hotel means pure joy: You sit in the garden next to the pool and enjoy regional specialties products to start the day.

Leave our luggage at the Hotel Remorino – it will be transferred to your next hotel - and take a easy and wonderful walk (approx. 30 minutes) along the lake to Locarno.

At 10:20am you will embark the ship for Ascona. Enjoy the 35-minute trip to Ascona. You get off directly at the lake promenade piazza: With its lakeside location, palm trees, Mediterranean ambience and mild climate, Ascona is a true paradise. History, art and culture and the characteristic lakeside promenade as well as the typical stone buildings and narrow alleyways make this small town on Lake Maggiore a unique gem. Take your time to visit and have a light lunch somewhere on the Piazza.

At 14.30h, you again embark the ship and enjoy a short transfer of 15 minutes to arrive to Brissago Island. The Brissago Islands are a scenic, natural and historical heritage of inestimable value. A true jewel in Lake Maggiore with over 2000 subtropical plant species, the botanical garden on Isola Grande is unique in Switzerland. Take your time and discover this plant splendor before you go back by boat and be picked up from the staff from Boutique Hotel La Rocca.

Check into your room with a balcony and a view over Lake Maggiore and the islands. For dinner on the breathtaking lakeside terrace, you will be treated to an experience for the senses: taste the best risottos in Ticino!
