You start your journey in Maienfeld: you will be picked up at the railway station at 12h45*. You deposit your luggage in the tour bus and visit the historic town centre together with your personal, local guide. Then your guide will take you on a wine walk through the Bündner Herrschaft. Stroll through the vines and enjoy a tasting of five to seven wines in a beautiful cellar, accompanied by cheese and dried meat specialities from the surrounding valleys and Alps.

Continue by train to Schiers. Here you will visit the largest Kindschi distillery in Graubünden and hear about the history of the former mule route of the Valtellina wine, the Via Valtellina. In addition, you will receive a small bottle of Bündner Röteli- the perfect refreshment for your upcoming hiking tours!

Then it's on to Klosters with the Rhaetian Railway, where you will spend the night in the 4-star Hotel Vereina.

*It is best to take the connection via Zurich/Sargans with arrival time 12.43 in Maienfeld.

The next day you will hike through the mountain world of Graubünden on the Via Valtellina: before the age of cars and trains, this was the shortest connection between the Lake Constance area and Upper Italy. Valtellina wine, salt, sugar and cattle were once exchanged on this former trade route. The hike leads over the Wolfgang Pass and connects the former Walser settlements and today's world-famous tourist destinations of Klosters and Davos.

After a hearty breakfast at the Hotel GRISCHA, take the post bus to Dischmatal - the starting point of the second hiking stage. Before you start the mountain tour over the Scalettapass, you will get a short introduction to the history of the Via Valtellina at the Berggsathaus Dürrenboden. The old water turbine in the cellar of the house, which you can also visit, bears witness to this time.

Now it's time to set off - you still have a long way to go: the hike from Dürrenboden to S-Chanf takes around 5.5 hours. Far from the hustle and bustle of the world, you will be immersed in the dreamlike mountain world of Graubünden. You hike uphill through the wild and romantic Dischma Valley towards the Scalettapass, which is the highest point of the Via Valtellina at 2606 metres. You reach the top of the pass after about 2 hours. The route descends through the Susauna valley, always following the mountain stream into the Engadine. After about 3.5 hours you reach La Resgia, from where you can catch the bus to Zuoz at the Chapella bus stop. If your hiking feet are not yet strained enough, you can add the stage to S-Chanf (approx. 1 hour) or Zuoz (1.5 hours). At the Hotel Castell in Zuoz, relaxing hours await you in the hotel's own hamam as well as a well-deserved 4-course dinner.
