Beautiful mountain hike in alpine terrain from Vnà, a mountain village not far from Scuol, via Heidelbergerhütte to Samnaun. Combine first-class hotel comfort with simple hut romance. Over hill and dale the path leads you from valley to valley - one more beautiful than the other - through lush green meadows, between rushing mountain streams and the mighty peaks of the Silvretta Group.
On the 3rd day of the trip, you will drop off your luggage at the hotel, for onward transport to Samnaun, and board the post bus, lightly packed with utensils for the mountain hut, in the direction of Vnà, the starting point of the transfer hike. The post bus leaves directly in front of the Hotel Belvédère. In Ramosch, change to the smaller post bus that goes up the narrow road to Vnà. From the terminal station Vnà, Jalmer you continue on foot.
Leisurely, with a slight incline, the path leads you deeper and deeper into the wild and romantic Val Sinestra. You will come to a crossroads where you have the option to either walk down to the Zuort farm or to continue slightly upwards following the signpost to the Heidelbergerhütte. Via Hof Zuort you are about 10 minutes faster. Would you like to enjoy a coffee at Hof Zuort before the climb then gradually increases? Or you can go straight on to Griosch (about 15 minutes from Hof Zuort), where you will find a very authentic small alpine restaurant, which offers products from the region and from the alp. Here, however, you can only sit outside - so if the weather is bad or cold, it is more advisable to plan a stop at Hof Zuort. From there on, there are no more possibilities to stop for refreshments until you reach the Heidelbergerhütte. From Griosch, the trail leads deeper and deeper into the beautiful, remote mountain landscape. You hike through lush green meadows while listening to the murmur of the wild brooks: pure nature, here you can switch off. Then follows the ascent of about 1.5 hours to the Fimber Pass. At the top of the pass you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Fimba Valley. The path formed by the water winds down through the mountain meadows to the Heidelbergerhütte. Not far and you will reach the hut, wonderfully nestled in the alpine landscape, far away from civilization.
The Heidelbergerhütte is a very special hut: it belongs to the German Alpine Club, is run by an Austrian host couple and stands on Swiss soil. Here you can expect pure hut simplicity, relaxed atmosphere, hearty Tyrolean cuisine (be sure to try the apple strudel - one of the best!), bunk beds and wool blankets. You will look in vain for cell phone reception here - enjoy the offline time, the peace and nature!
Price per person for 5 nights | |
Room category | Price per person |
Double room standard | CHF 970.- |
Single room | CHF 1'120.- |
Double room of higher category (except Heidelbergerhütte) | CHF 1'110.- |
Reversed alternative:
The tour can also be booked with reversed accommodation order. Here you just have to keep in mind that the hike from the Heidelbergerhütte to Vnà is steep down after the Fimberpass, which is not very pleasant to walk. Therefore, we recommend the hike starting from Vnà. However, both variants are well doable..
