Route 3: Also via the A7 to Füssen, but then along the eastern side of Lake Forggensee via Schwangau and Halblech.
The journey time varies by around 20 minutes depending on the route chosen, without taking into account the current traffic situation.
Total distance approx. 168 kilometers
Travel time approx. 2 hours and 50 minutes pure travel time, without breaks
The road starts at the tranquil shores of Lake Soier, passing through the Ammer Valley towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen via Unterammergau, Oberammergau, and Ettal through a beautiful wide valley. The journey continues towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen through the Upper Isar Valley along a route with views of the Wetterstein Mountains and the Zugspitze, as well as the charming landscape to Mittenwald. The border to Austria in Tyrol is reached shortly after Mittenwald.
The journey continues to Landeck on an elevated road with views of the Upper Inn Valley. The route continues from Landeck at 861 m to Samnaun village at 1,846 m. The last part of the journey is somewhat challenging due to several inclines up to the Austrian-Swiss border. After the border, the valley opens up towards Samnaun, which lies in a wide high valley. The Chalet Silvretta Hotel & Spa is located in the center of Samnaun village.

Total distance approx. 200 kilometers
Travel time approx. 4 hours pure travel time, without breaks
The start in Samnaun leads past alpine meadows and narrow rock passages through the Samnaun Valley to the border town of Compatsch and then on to Martina. From there, the road leads through spruce forests to Norbertshöhe, which is already in Austria. This is followed by a short descent to Nauders, and from there to Reschenstrasse. After about 5 km, you reach the border with Italy. Towards the south, the Vinschgau Valley gradually opens up to Merano. This well-known health resort is located in a valley basin at 325 m between the Vinschgau, Etsch and Passeier valleys. The southern part of the Passeier Valley is a continuation of the Vinschgau Valley in a narrower valley with fruit and wine growing, while the northern part has an alpine character. The Jaufental Valley begins in St. Leonhard. The Jaufen Pass is reached on a well-maintained road at an altitude of 2,094 m. Continuing eastward through the valley leads through the northern part of the Eisack Valley to just before Brixen, then along the Puster Valley state road (SS49) towards Bruneck. In Reischach, southeast of Bruneck, the Hotel Rudolf is located on a sun-drenched plateau.

Total distance approx. 248 kilometers
Travel time approx. 3 hours and 55 minutes pure travel time, without breaks
From Reischach, the route takes you along the Puster Valley road towards Brixen (as on the last part of the route on day 2). From Brixen, there are two options for traveling to Bolzano. The motorway (A22) leads directly to Bolzano, while the SS74 and SP142 lead from Bressanone towards the picturesque villages of Feldthurns, Verdings, and Chiusa in the Eisack Valley. The SP142 continues via Verdings at 950 m. Then follows the descent to Klausen in the valley at 523 m. The journey towards Bolzano takes about 30 minutes and can be continued either on the A22 motorway or on the SS12 through beautiful villages on the western side of the valley.
The journey continues south from Bolzano into Trentino, the Italian part of the autonomous region of South Tyrol Trentino. The distance from Bolzano to Rovereto is around 85 km, taking approximately 1 hour on the A22 or around 1 hour 30 minutes on the SS112, which is recommended if you choose the direct route. Another option with a longer travel time takes you along the South Tyrolean Wine Road through the villages of Appiano, Caldaro, Termeno, Cortaccia, and Magrè to Cortinico.
The journey to Riva del Garda at the northern end of Lake Garda takes between 30 and 40 minutes, depending on traffic. Continuing along the western side of Lake Garda, the route leads to Limone sul Garda, a very popular summer destination known for its lemon groves in greenhouses. The lake widens at Gardone Riviera. After Salò, the road leads into the Lombardy hills with gentle slopes, fields, and a few farmsteads, where L'Unicorno is located in Bedizzole, in the Macesina district. Enjoy two relaxing nights near Lake Garda to recharge your batteries before continuing your journey.

Total distance approx. 283 kilometers
Travel time approx. 4 hours and 45 minutes pure driving time, without breaks
The travel time indicated refers to the fastest route via the highway from Brescia to Stresa. The following directions, on the other hand, mainly use side roads.
The journey from Bedizzole to Brescia takes just over 30 minutes – it's definitely worth making a stop here. Northwest of Brescia and south of Lake Iseo lies Franciacorta, one of Italy's most famous wine regions. You can drive around Lake Iseo. From Iseo, head west to Clusane and on to Paratico, an elegant and lively business town. The 80 km Franciacorta Wine Route also starts in Iseo and is ideal for a round trip.
However, as the day's destination of Ronco sopra Ascona is still ahead, it is not possible to cover the entire route in one day.
South of Iseo lie Corte Franca and Erbusco, two of the region's most important wine-growing towns. To continue your journey towards Bergamo and Monza, you can either take the A4 motorway or various side roads north of the motorway. Monza is worth a visit as your next stop. From Monza to Stresa on Lake Maggiore, we recommend taking the highway; without traffic delays, the journey takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes. From the Stresa exit, a well-maintained but steep road leads down to the lake. It's worth taking a break here to enjoy the magnificent backdrop of the lake and mountains.
You should also allow around 1 hour and 20 minutes for the last section of today's stage along Lake Maggiore. In Porto Ronco, a steep road branches off up to the boutique hotel La Rocca, which boasts magnificent views of the lake, the Brissago Islands, and the surrounding mountains and villages in Italy and Switzerland.
