Your cultural experience starts at the foot of the Alpstein massif in the village of Appenzell or in the local dialect also called "Appezöll". Colourfully painted wooden houses with curved gables give the village a very special character. Find out more about the village fire of 1560, why the Canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden was the last canton to introduce women's voting rights in 1990 and how it came about that today voting is still carried out by hand on the village square.
The old town of the eastern Swiss metropolis of St. Gall is characterised by buildings steeped in history. The heart of the city is the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site of the Abbey District of St. Gall with its baroque cathedral and world-famous, ancient abbey library.
The highlight of the third day is characterized by physical activity and natural landscape. By e-bike, a tour takes you along the Lake Constance cycle path towards Romanshorn and Kreuzlingen - two of Lake Constance's harbour places. Across fields and through forests you will then reach the wellness hotel Golf Panorama in Lipperswil, where you can relax your muscles in the whirlpool.
You should not miss this, for the last day we recommend you: Train journey along Lake Constance and the Rhine to Schaffhausen - a town once considered a reloading point for the movement of goods, as ships had to avoid impassable water rapids. Traces of the Second World War are also highly present, as on 1 April 1944, due to a navigational error, the town became the target of a bombing raid by the US air fleet.
