Discover the beautiful wine producing region of "La Côte": Located between Lausanne and Geneva, the region is characterised by vineyards, hills, rural expanses and quaint small towns on the shores of Lake Geneva. At the heart of all that, and right on the shores of the lake between the wonderful and historic towns of Nyon and Morges in Prangins, the romantic Boutique Hotel "La Barcarolle" offers an oasis of calm – not to mention a breath- taking view across the lake to the French Alps. Cosy rooms, lake-facing balconies and a snug country cottage feel will help you to relax. The Hotel "La Barcarolle" is the perfect starting point for discovering the La Côte wine region; if you’re on foot, for example, take the "Toblerone Trail" which runs right past the hotel. "Toblerone" refers to the triangular concrete blocks constructed to form a defensive barrier against tank invasions during the Second World War, nick-named by locals after the famous triangular Swiss chocolate bar. The Toblerone Trail leads not only through beautiful countryside and landscapes but is also a journey through history. The trail, which is about 10 km in length, follows the line of defences that was constructed to protect Switzerland during the war.
