TOUR from hotel to hotel

Hiking, wellness and enjoyment: Discover the incredible diversity of flora and fauna in the Swiss National Park. During the day you can hike the Alpine Mats and the high mountains of the park and meet red deer, ibex and chamois at eye level. With a bit of luck you might even spot an alpine ptarmigan or a golden eagle! In the evenings you will be pampered from head to toe by the Private Selection Hotels. Relax your muscles in the wellness area and enjoy a fine multi-course menu, accompanied by a fine drop of wine from the wine cellar.

Day 1: Arrival via Prättigau to the Lower Engadine

Arrival by train

We recommend travelling with the Rhaetian Railway. The route through the Prättigau via Klosters and Vereina into the Engadine is particularly beautiful. From Landquart the train runs every hour and takes you directly to Scuol-Tarasp. The porter will be happy to pick you up from the Hotel Belvédère at the station. Arrival by car

You can reach the Hotel Belvédère from Zurich via Landquart, Davos and the Flüela Pass. The Vereina car transport from Klosters will take you comfortably to the Lower Engadine and to Scuol. The hotel will be happy to provide you with a reduced-price ticket for the RhB Vereina car transport. Please order this directly with your reservation. Alternatively, you can combine the journey with a pass ride over the Julier.

The Hotel Belvédère****S is nestled in the beautiful mountain landscape of the Lower Engadine. Here tradition, authenticity and hospitality merge with modern design and comfort. Enjoy your welcome aperitif with a breathtaking view of the Engadine mountains. Then return to the Engadine Bad Scuol for extended bathing rituals before rounding off your first day of travel with culinary delights in the Hotel Restaurant Allegra.

Day2: Hike through the Sinestra valley

Strengthened by the rich breakfast buffet, you take the post bus to the well-preserved Engadine village of Sent, the starting point for your hike. From here you hike into the wild, forested Val Sinestra, where the mighty spa house from the Belle Époque is enthroned on a rock in the middle. The history of the house and the former bathing and drinking culture with water from the mineral springs is fascinating. Following the course of the stream, you meet the first and shortly after the second suspension bridge. The view of the sometimes wild, but mostly calm mountain stream is adventurous. Soon you reach the Hof Zuort inn and restaurant in a clearing and a little later the Tanna da Muntanella restaurant at the turning point of the hike. Return along the well-maintained forest road to the hamlet of Vnà, the end point of the hike is the PostBus stop. Back in Scuol, there is time to enjoy the amenities of the wellness area.

Day 3: Hike over the Costainas pass into the Val Müstair Biosphere

After you have left your luggage at the reception for further transport, you will be taken by shuttle bus from the hotel to the wildly romantic Val S-Charl (depart time 09h00). You hike from S-Charl along the rippling Clemgia, further through the highest Swiss stone pine forest in Europe "Tamangur", which more than lives up to its fairytale name. Then you pass the Alp Astras, where fresh alpine products are available. The trail continues to climb leisurely up to the Pass da Costainas at 2,250 m.a.s.l.. Your efforts are rewarded with an overwhelming view of the Val Müstair. Through the nature park of the Biosfera Val Müstair you continue hiking via Alp Compatsch to the small village of Tschierv, from where you take the post bus over the Ofen Pass to Zernez and from there by train to Zuoz. You will be picked up at the station and driven to the Hotel Castell - a castle that towers high above Zuoz and is waiting to tempt you with culinary delights!

Day 4: Nature experience in Val Trupchun

Strengthen yourself at the breakfast buffet and enjoy your coffee in peace and quiet. Compared to the previous day, today's programme is "rather" a leisurely one. But there is a lot to marvel at:

We recommend the mostly flat hike into the wildly rich Val Trupchun. The tour can also be undertaken in bad weather and offers a variety of observation possibilities for animals and Pﬂanzenfreunden. This hike is one of the most popular routes in the national park, especially during the rut of the stags at the end of September. The possibility of a round tour via high altitude path and valley path is attractive. From the two resting places Val Mela and Alp Trupchun you can observe the animal inhabitants of Val Trupchun at close range. Thanks to the geological conditions, the flora in Val Trupchun is one of the most beautiful in the whole Engadine! The hike takes about 4 hours, up and down are each about 430 metres in altitude (see map material).

The simpler option is to take the Express Parc Naziunel from Zuoz Staziun to the Varusch Park Hut.

Enjoy your last evening at the Hotel Castell and let yourself, your body and your palate be pampered once again!

Day 5: Return journey via the UNESCO World Heritage route of the Albula Line

Rich buffet breakfast before you start your journey home. We recommend the trip via Samedan. Change there and enjoy the panoramic journey with the Rhaetian Railway on the UNESCO World Heritage route of the Albula Line to Chur.

Tipps for your itinerary

Visit to the Albula railway museum in Bergün:
Get off the train in Bergün and immerse yourself in the railway history of the canton of Graubünden at the Albula railway museum. Old railway paraphernalia, films and models will immerse you. In the simulator you have the opportunity to take the locomotive across the Albula line yourself for once.
Easy hike on the railway adventure trail on the Via Albula/Bernina from Preda to Bergün: The hiking trail along the UNESCO World Heritage route of the Rhaetian Railway runs as close as possible to the Albula and Bernina lines and offers enchanting views of a total work of art over 100 years old in a magnificent Alpine landscape. The hike takes about 2 hours and there are only a few metres in altitude to overcome.
Easy hike to the deep clear Palpuogna lake - our secret tip! The hike starts in Preda and ends in Preda. You walk back and forth on the same path, each about 30 minutes.
