• Take the train from Weissbad to Wasserauen to the cable car - Wasserauen - Ebenalp. It is a 15-minute walk from the Ebenalp mountain station to the Aescher mountain restaurant (1,471 metres above sea level). National Geographic has rated this place as the most beautiful place ever in its book ‘Destinations of a Lifetime’. You have reserved your table with a view for breakfast. After breakfast, take a short walk through the Wildkirchli caves back to the cable car, which will take you back down, and then take the train to Appenzell.
• Appenzell is the most traditional village in Switzerland and, with around 7,000 inhabitants, is the political, economic and cultural centre of Switzerland's smallest canton, Appenzell Innerrhoden. In the car-free town centre, the pretty alleys with their numerous small shops invite you to stroll and shop. The houses, richly decorated with paintings, are characteristic. The Appenzell Museum in the town hall shows a cross-section of history and culture. Appenzell practises the most direct form of democracy there is – on the Landsgemeindeplatz, all citizens still vote by show of hands on all matters concerning the canton.
• You can explore Appenzell on your own – with our city map and some information – culminating in an aperitif (a glass of white wine) with a delicious slice of Appezöller Chäsflade (cheese tart). 
• To get back to the hotel, you can either take the train (only a few minutes' ride) or – as we suggest – take a 1-hour walk along the Sitter stream. Take your time and enjoy the fabulous new Hof Weissbad SPA surrounded by beautiful nature!
• This evening, enjoy a traditional Appenzell evening with an elegant and sumptuous buffet featuring specialities from Käthi Fässler's award-winning cuisine – accompanied by live Appenzell music and yodelling.
