Switzerland is a true paradise for cycling enthusiasts. Our Private Selection Hotels offer the ideal accommodation for active and adventure-filled cycling holidays as well as multi-day bike tours with overnight stays. The hotels are located in close proximity to well-developed cycling routes and are perfectly suited for bike tours with luggage transfer. From the majestic Swiss Alps to gentle rolling hills and idyllic lakes – each region offers ideal conditions for your cycling holiday in Switzerland. In addition to secure bicycle storage facilities and professional advice on the most beautiful cycling tours and routes in the area, many of our bike hotels also offer their own bike and/or e-bike rental, repair workshops, and washing stations for your bicycle.
1. How does a hotel-to-hotel cycling holiday work?
You cycle a pre-planned route from one Private Selection hotel to the next, staying in a different hotel each night. Your luggage is transported between the hotels, so you ride with only a light daypack, and a route app guides you along each stage.
2. Is luggage transport included?
Yes. Luggage transfer from hotel to hotel is part of our cycling holidays. You hand in your bags at the hotel in the morning and find them waiting at your next accommodation in the evening, so every stage is ridden unencumbered.
3. Do I need my own bike or can I rent one?
You are welcome to bring your own bike, or you can rent a modern e-bike or country bike for an additional charge. Rental is optional and can be added when you book, so you set off properly equipped.
4. Are these tours self-guided or guided?
Our cycling holidays are self-guided and individual. You decide when to start each day and set your own pace, supported by a route app with stage descriptions and tips, while your hotels and luggage transfers are arranged in advance.
5. How fit do I need to be?
The stages are designed as relaxed, scenic rides rather than a sporting challenge, and are suitable for cyclists with average fitness. With an e-bike, climbs become considerably easier, so a wide range of guests can take part comfortably.
6. Should I choose an e-bike or a regular bike?
Both work well. An e-bike is ideal if you want to handle elevation gain comfortably and enjoy more of the scenery, while a regular touring bike is fine on flatter routes. We can provide a suitable bike on request.
7. What is included in the cycling holiday?
Included are your nights in the Private Selection hotels with breakfast and a multi-course dinner, use of the wellness facilities, luggage transport between hotels, and a route app with tips. E-bike or bike rental can be added optionally.
8. When is the best time of year for a cycling holiday?
For most routes, May through October is ideal, when the weather is mild and the infrastructure is open. These months offer the most comfortable conditions for riding the stages.
9. How do I get to the starting point, and can I arrive by train?
Switzerland's public transport network makes the start of most routes easy to reach by train. You can also bring your bike on trains and many buses, which makes arriving without a car straightforward.
10. How much luggage can I bring for the transfer?
As a guideline, plan for one piece of luggage per rider for the transfer between hotels, with daily essentials carried in your handlebar or saddle bag. For details on a specific route, our team is happy to advise.
