Day 1: Arrival in Burgundy

We recommend stopping off in Dijon on your way to the hotel. The city is famous for its diverse architectural styles, ranging from Gothic to Art Deco. The renowned Musée des Beaux-Arts, founded in 1787, is housed in the spacious Palace of the Dukes and boasts an extensive collection of paintings, sculptures, crafts and antiques.
The onward journey to Vosne-Romanée, in the heart of the famous vineyards of the Côte de Nuits, takes only 30 minutes.

In the evening, enjoy a French gourmet menu in the cosy restaurant.

Day 2: The vineyards of Burgundy

How about an enjoyable day in the heart of Burgundy, dedicated to the countryside, culture and wine? Perhaps you could start with a leisurely stroll through the vineyards – in about 35 minutes you will reach the impressive Château du Clos de Vougeot, the symbolic heart of Burgundy's wine culture. Surrounded by vines and centuries of history, you can really feel the soul of the region here.

The wine landscape itself resembles a veritable open-air mosaic. The famous ‘climats’ are scattered across the slopes of the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune – a unique testament to traditional winemaking that has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015. Each individual vineyard tells its own story of terroir, grape varieties and artisanal dedication.

In the afternoon, take a detour to the charming town of Beaune. It's wonderful to stroll among the small boutiques and traditional wine houses. Or treat yourself to a soothing break at the vineaSpa – with its relaxation pool, hammam, sauna and sensory shower – and let the impressions of the day linger as you relax.

The day ends on a delightful note with a tasting of four exquisite wines, accompanied by fascinating insights into the special features of the region. A wonderful opportunity to not only see Burgundy, but to experience it with all your senses.

In the evening, enjoy another delicious gourmet menu in the excellent and cosy restaurant at Le Richebourg.

Day 3: Onward journey to Provence

After breakfast, you will continue your journey individually in your own car to the HOTEL LE CLAIR DE LA PLUME in Grignan, about 3 hours away. In the hotel's garden, 200 metres from the hotel, with its organic pool and breathtaking views of the historic old town and Grignan Castle, you can switch off from everyday life and really settle in with a glass of fine local white wine.

• Gourmet dinner at the at the Restaurant Bistro de la Ferme Chapouton and accommodation at the HOTEL CLAIR DE LA PLUME

Day 4: The Cavern du Chauvet-Pont -D’Arc

Today you visit the world heritage site Caverne Chauvet-Pont d' Arc. It is a life-like replica of the Pont d’Arc painted cave where more than a thousand cave paintings were discovered in 1994. These paintings are over 36,000 years old – the oldest in existence that we know of. On the outward journey, we recommend you take the route through Saint-Paul-trois-Châteaux, whose Notre-Dame cathedral was built in the 12th century and is an example of the ancient Romanesque architecture of Provence. On the return journey to Grignan you’ll cross the Drôme near Donzère, with its Romanesque church and the Renaissance-style tower of «Chevinesse», which along with the town walls and castle are listed tourist landmarks.

• Breakfast at the Hotel Le Clair de la Plume

• Visit the Chauvet-Pont d’Arc cavern (56km from Grignan)

• Gourmet dinner at the Restaurant Bistro de la Ferme Chapouton and accommodation at the Hotel Clair de la Plume

Important: Please book your tickets for the Caverne in advance so that you can be admitted at your desired time! Reservations at: https://en.grottechauvet2ardeche.com/

Day 5: Orange and Avignon

From the Hotel Le Clair de la Plume, you’ll drive about 45 minutes (43km) to the theatre at Orange. “The most beautiful wall in my kingdom” as King Louis XIV of France passionately described the theatre’s stage wall, has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1981. After visiting the theatre, you’ll travel further south (33km) to Avignon. The former capital of Christianity offers an exceptionally rich cultural heritage: The Palace of the Popes, the city walls and the famous bridge. As evening falls, you’ll have the famous song (“Sur le pont d’Avignon, on y danse, on y danse…”) in your head as you drive the 77 km to the HOTEL L’ESTELLE EN CAMARGUE. From the garden terrace of your room let your gaze wander over the natural lake to the distant pastures and the famous horses and bulls of the Camargue.

• Breakfast at the Hotel Le Clair de la Plume

• Visit the Roman theatre at Orange

• Visit Avignon

• Gourmet 4-course dinner and accommodation at the Hotel L’Estelle en Camargue

Day 6: Arles - the UNESCO Town

Today you’ll go back to ancient times. At the Pont du Gard – an aqueduct dating back to the 1st century, you’ll discover an architectural masterpiece and one of the most beautiful Roman constructions in the region. The Pont du Gard lies 70km from L’Estelle en Camargue.

From the Pont du Gard, you’ll drive to Arles (37 km), a former Roman town on the fringe of the Camargue. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, Arles has several monuments worth visiting: the amphitheatre, the Roman theatre, the Saint Trophime cloister, the Constantin baths, the Alyscamps necropolis, and the Roman battlements.

For contemporary art enthusiasts, we recommend a detour to the “Maison d’Arles” where Maja Hoffmann, Swiss art collector and heiress of the Hoffmann-La Roche pharmaceutical company, has established an interdisciplinary centre for culture. The centre piece is a striking aluminium tower designed by star architect Frank O’Gehry. Allow a good half hour for your return journey to the hotel (35 km). If you haven't had enough after visiting Arles, we recommend travelling on to Aigues-Mortes, which takes around 50 minutes. This cosy town will delight you with its old town, which is lined with twenty towers and fortified gates. You can walk the 1.6-kilometre-long city wall for a fee and enjoy a fantastic view of the nearby salt flats. From Aigues-Mortes you return to the Hotel L'Estelle en Camargue (26km).

• Breakfast at the Hotel L’Estelle en Camargue

• Visit the Pont du Gard

• Visit Arles

• Visit Aigues-Mortes at will

• 4-course gourmet evening dinner and accommodation at the Hotel L’Estelle en Camargue

Day 7: Excursion to the Italian Riviera

Heading past Aix-en-Provence, you’ll drive to the Ligurian coast along the coast road (Riviera dei Fiori) via Cannes, Nice, Monaco and San Remo as far as Diano Marina. Sample Italian style at the private beach of the GRAND HOTEL DIANA MAJESTIC or discover the surroundings with the free-of-charge bicycles. You’ll need to allow about 4 hours for the drive but there’s no rush – take the time to visit the famous cities along the way. For art lovers, we also recommend a stop at the famous Fondation Maeght in the picturesque village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, just 26 kilometres from Cannes and 20 kilometres from Nice. The foundation houses one of the most important collections of modern art, including works by Miró, Giacometti, Chagall, Braque and Calder.

Just a few kilometres inland from the bustling tourist coastline, the foothills climb upwards, timeless mountain villages sticking to their flanks, oozing their very own authentic way of life. For example, about 50 minutes’ drive from the Hotel Diana Majestic is the Valle Argentina. The village of Montalto Ligure greets you like a fortress, dominated by the impressive Baptist church and a little further lies the mediaeval village of Triora - village of witches - perched at 765m above sea level.

• Breakfast at the Hotel Diana Majestic

• All day to do as you wish – we recommend discovering the Valle Argentina

• Evening dinner including starter, salad and dessert buffet as well as accommodation at the Grand Hotel Diana Majestic.
