Enjoy genuine hospitality and Appenzell tradition in the midst of nature. Let yourself be pampered by a variety of spa offers as well as a culinary 4-course menu in the evening.

From Bühler through the picturesque Appenzell landscape to Heiden

Your hiking experience begins in the Appenzell village of Bühler, where you hike through rolling hills and lush green pastures. After a good hour's walk, you reach the Hohe Buche restaurant at the highest point of the first range of hills, with one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Appenzellerland. The hike then leads down the Wissegg to Trogen. The hiking trail leads right through the historic village centre, where you can admire the impressive wooden buildings along the way. The trail then climbs steeply up to Rehetobel via Chastenloch. Shortly after Rehetobel, we recommend a stopover at the Gasthaus zum Gupf. This is not directly on the Alpine Panorama Trail, but can be reached with a five-minute diversions. Be sure to book a table in advance by telephone - the Gupf is usually very busy. The remaining stretch from Gupf via Kaienspitz to Heiden is a great, entertaining hike with phenomenal panoramic views from Lake Constance over the Alpstein to the Säntis. The stage destination, Heiden, lies on a sunny terrace high above Lake Constance. It is also known as a Biedermeier village because of its classicist village centre. Henri Dunant, founder of the Red Cross, spent his last 23 years in Heiden. A museum is dedicated to him, which you pass shortly before leaving the village. Or discover the Biedermeier village from a bird's eye view from the church tower - the 157 steps up to the tower room are worth it! You can also look forward to an extensive wellness visit at Hotel Heiden to relax. In the evening you will be spoiled with a 4-course gourmet menu.

Abbreviation of the hike: For leisurely hikers, the experience only starts in Trogen. By train it takes around 50 minutes from Bühler to Trogen. On foot it takes around 2 hours.

Leisurely coasting along Lake Constance to Horn

After a restful night and a hearty breakfast at Hotel Heiden, the second stage of your hiking adventure awaits you the next morning. The Alpine Panorama Trail leads you in a relaxed manner from Heiden down to Weinacht-Tobel, past the beautifully situated Wartensee Castle to Rorschach on Lake Constance. From here you enjoy the last section along the lake promenade to Horn, where the 4-star superior Hotel Bad Horn directly on Lake Constance invites you to an enjoyable stay. Whether it's a cooling swim in the lake in summer or bubbling in the warm whirlpool in winter - there's no shortage of muscle relaxation here! Afterwards, you can round off your hiking trip with a fine 4-course menu.

Relaxing finale at the Hotel Bad Horn

Book an extra night at the Hotel Bad Horn and enjoy a relaxing break at the end of your hiking tour. The spacious wellness area and the immediate location on Lake Constance provide particularly soothing relaxation.

All-year hiking tour - tips for winter hikers

The hike on the Alpine Panorama Trail between Bühler and Lake Constance runs at altitudes of up to 1,130 metres above sea level. In winter, the paths may be covered in snow. However, there is not usually too much snow at these altitudes, so the tour can be undertaken all year round. In winter, we recommend that you take snow spikes and hiking sticks with you.
