The tour goes from the Auronzo refuge via the small church of “Capella degli Alpinie” which was built by Italian soldiers during the First World War. At the Paternsattel it will get a bit steeper for a while – but the short effort will be worth it for the amazing view. From there it’s nice and easy to the 3 peaks refuge at 2405m altitude from where the famous Three Peaks (2999m, 2973m and 2875m) seem within reach. The descent is down past crystal clear mountain lakes via Langealm and back to the car park. In total it should take about 4 hours with little elevation difference. And an extra tip – the Three Peaks ascent is particularly impressive during the late afternoon when you can catch the Alpine glow on the north faces of the peaks.
